Meet the team

The MultiChoice SA Fort Hare Inkwenkwezi Trust are managed by six trustees, Neil Jansen, Wilson J. Rooy, Dr Mvula Yoyo, Unathi and Khanyisa Mrubata. Adrie Jurgensen and Vuyani Somyo are responsible for the management and co-ordination of the project.

 

Dr Mvula Yoyo (Chairperson)

Dr Yoyo’s qualifications include a MA at UCLA and a D.Litt et Phil. His former positions include Senior Lecturer at the Department Afrikaans, Head of Department and Manager of Co-operative Education Services at the University of Fort Hare. Currently he is the Transformation General Manager at Medi-Clinic Head Office in Stellenbosch. He presented numerous workshops in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Gauteng and is a council member of the University of Stellenbosch. He is also a member of the Pan South African Language Board and the Klein-Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees. Currently he serves as Chairperson of Fort Hare Inkwenkwezi Trust.

Neil Jansen

Neil Jansen is Media24 general manager: human resources. His qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership and completing a Media Leadership Programme. He was the project manager of the Welkom Yizani public offer. His leadership roles include a Leksikons directorship, chairmanship of the National Media Provident Fund and membership of the general council of the Publishers Association of South Africa.

Wilson J. Rooy (Secretariat)

Mr Rooy’s qualifications include a BA and Higher Diploma in Education, an Honours degree in Geography and a MBA. He is Media24’s general manager: corporate and regulatory affairs. In his previous position of senior human resources manager at Metropolitan Health Group as well in his positions at Sappi Saiccor, Munimend, the National Department of Agriculture and the Universities of Pretoria and the Western Cape he gained extensive management experience in areas such as human resources, regulatory affairs, CSI, public relations and marketing, as well as transformation, diversity and change management.

Unathi Nqandela

Unathi Nqandela is currently a District Director: Fort Beaufort in the Eastern Cape. Previously she was a Chief Education Specialist -Curriculum Management in charge of all Subject Advisors in the District. Her qualifications include B com (Honours), BED and has finished part one - Organisational behaviour towards her MBA. She has worked as an Imbewu Project Provincial facilitator training teachers on the Imbewu transfomational modules. Over the years she has been included in delegations representing the department of education in Sweden, Denmark and England on key issues affecting education. She is a trustee of the Fort Hare Inkwenkwezi Trust.

Khanyisa Mrubata

Khanyisa Mrubata’s qualifications include a BA (Music) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She also aims to complete her BA (Hons) in English Literature and Applied Linguistics at the University of Fort Hare this year. She has worked as part-time teacher, student tutor, student facilitator, consultant and PASS student assistant. She has served in various leadership positions, including chairperson of the Education Society, University Senator and Music Department Chairperson. She has also received a number of rewards, including the Inkwenkwezi Trust member of the year award in 2007.
