| How to become a Learner |
|
Currently 120 learners are participating in the Inkwenkwezi programme. Schools nominate 20 learners to participate in the programme. After reviewing each learner’s application and year marks, the trustees select 7 to 10 learners to participate in the programme. Learners are expected to attend workshops where they will learn more about study techniques, self-esteem and entrepreneurial skills. Learners are submitted to aptitude tests and receive feedback throughout the year to assist them with career choices. Each learner is partnered with a mentor from the University of Fort Hare, who will meet with the learner twice a month. The mentor will assist the learner with study techniques and self-esteem, but will also act as a life coach. Learners will visit the University of Fort Hare for social events and will attend some lectures at the university to familiarise them with the set-up. In return learners will help to empower the rest of their school and community by being a positive example. The best learners will receive bursaries. |
